Slide Guitar/Rock n Roll
DVD
- 1 Hour approx

This video is a two part course, part 1 covers Rock
n Roll playing, part 2 covers Slide guitar in E tuning.
With thirty years of guitar playing behind me, one thing I can assure you of is, you must
be capable of improvising a Rock n Roll solo!
You can almost guarantee if you go to audition for a band as a lead guitarist, if there is nothing prepared you will end up playing Rock n Roll or
Blues.
Therefore it is crucial to have some
experience in this area.
With this video the work is done for you - just follow the course and you will have instant experience
with Rock n Roll soloing.
The first half of the course will teach you all about Rock n Roll soloing, there is a specific criteria
necessary when putting together a traditional Rock n Roll solo and this course covers it in detail.
In total you will learn four solos and the two main types of Rhythm backing
often used with this style.
You will also learn a range of intro's and endings to encourage you to construct your own solos.
The Rock n Roll solos are in the style of Chuck Berry (of course) and you will
learn his famous Johnny B. Goode intro riff.
The second half of this video course is designed to teach you how to play Blues Slide
Guitar in E tuning - this is a tuning Duane Allman from the 'Allman Brothers
Band' used frequently.
Section 1
You will learn how to tune to E tuning - this is the same
slide tuning used by most
Blues men. You will learn how to use the slide and the best set-up for you guitar (strings action etc).
Next
you will learn how to use the damping technique to cut out all of those unwanted overtones created by the slide,
volume or feedback.
Section 2
You will learn the E Blues scale in E tuning (a different layout to standard tuning).
You will learn the scale in various formats including linear runs and with open strings.
You will also cover how to play the chords successfully and how to create a professionally sounding vibrato with the Slide.
Section 3
is all about riffs and you will go through a range of the best sounding Slide Riffs in detail.
These include linear riffs -
hammer-on's - very high register Riffs (some off the fretboard around the 24th fret area) - using the down slide - fast string to string up/down slide riffs and more!
Section 4
This is about playing the E twelve Bar riff which is different because of the E tuning
( the fretboard position changes because of the tuning) - you will learn how to play this while keeping the slide on your finger at the same time.
Section 5
This is section contains a slide
solo to show you how easy
you can construct your own solos once you have studied the course.
At the end of the video there is an improvisation session using the very same riffs studied earlier in the course.
